Real Positive Poles are a group of Bristol based improvisers with a passion for big ideas and science fiction. We take inspiration from your favourite shows to create brand new episodes based on audience suggestions.
Our main show is currently “After Dusk: The Improvised Twilight Zone.” A dive into the the audience’s imagination in the style of The Twilight Zone, the 1960’s forerunner to Black Mirror. Sometimes dark, often mysterious and always fun!
Our past shows include
- “Spon Trek: The Next Improvisation,” a big, silly parody of Star Trek taking a suggestion of the episode title the audience always wanted to see and creating completely from scratch!
- “Steampunk’d: A Victorian Tale of Adventure and Invention,” a high energy stomp through the myriad of unintended consequences of an audience suggested invention in the style of H.G. Wells and Jules Verne.
As well as Bristol we have also performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2 years with Spon Trek and have taken After Dusk to the Swindon Fringe festival and Hoopla Improv, London.
★★★★★ “Great Show! Would highly recommend!” – Wriggle Bristol
“wonderfully geeky … you’ll be kept grinning for the rest of the day … a breath of fresh air in a sea of increasingly bland comedy” – Edfringe Review
“Quirky, offbeat and hilarious” – Swindon Fringe Review
We perform regularly around Bristol and occasionally further afield. Our flagship show is the Science/Fiction Double Feature where we either team up with another comedy group and insist they do Sci-Fi, or we team up with an exciting scientist or science communicator and insist they be entertaining. Previous acts have included This Is Your Musical, Last Day on Earth, and world leading researcher Dr Rob Hughes.
We’re also excited to do horror shows with After Dusk. On Halloween 2018 we performed in The Crypt of St John on the Wall with The Unnamed Improv
If you’re a comedian, scientist, engineer, venue operator, trustee of a crypt (or other underground structure) or perhaps even someone else we haven’t even thought of collaborating with before then send us an email at email@example.com
